Welcome to visit and guide the Drilling Equipment Manufacturing Center for Xi’an Research Institute of China Coal Research Institute.

There are 309 employees in the drilling equipment manufacturing center, including 76 professional technicians, 2 national technical experts, 3 skilled masters in the coal industry, and 66 high-skilled talents above technician level.

The center is mainly engaged in the manufacturing of drilling equipment and drilling tools, the research and development of drilling tool products, the research of drilling equipment manufacturing technology and the trial production of new products.

Eight industry related standards have been formulated and more than 150 national patents have been obtained.

Drilling equipment manufacturing consists of two production bases in the  Hi-tech Campus and Hi-tech West Campus, is mainly engaged in the production of drill pipe, drill bit and supporting drilling tools, divided into No.3, No.4 and No.5 workshops, with a total area of more than 13000 square meters.

The High-tech West Campus is mainly engaged in the production of drilling equipment products, with a plant area of more than 20000 square meters, which is the largest production base for coal mine tunnel drilling equipment in China.

The center possesses five-axis machining center, horizontal machining center, CNC friction welding machine, CNC pipe thread machine tool and other high-precision production equipment, as well as advanced testing equipment and instruments such as scanning electron microscope, non-destructive flaw detector, three-dimensional measuring instrument, multi-functional testing platform of screw drill; in recent years, it has developed flexible assembly line for key components of drilling rig, spiral drill pipe welding workstation, joint processing and intelligent manufacturing units such as online inspection automation workstation, friction welding unmanned workstation, bit surface additive manufacturing workstation, pillar welding workstation etc.

Drilling equipment products are mainly divided into the following categories: all hydraulic split drilling rig, all hydraulic crawler drilling rig, ground-mounted drilling rig and other mining electromechanical products, among which directional drilling rig and electric control drilling rig have become the important equipment for underground drilling construction in coal mines.

Drill pipe products include six categories: external flat drill pipe, spiral drill pipe, MWD drill pipe, triangular drill pipe, fishing drill pipe and petroleum (geological) drill pipe.

Bit products consist of five categories: alloy bit, diamond bit, composite bit, anchor bit and petroleum (geological) bit.

Here are the notes for visiting:

1. There are dangerous and harmful factors at the production site, such as mechanical injury, fire, electric shock, object strike, lifting injury, falling accidents and so on.

“Layout of Workshop Risk Level” is an effective way for you to understand the safety issues in the workshop.

2. During the visit, in case of emergency, do not panic. Follow the instructions of the accompanying personnel and evacuate the site orderly according to the evacuation route.

3. While entering the workshop, you should wear necessary protective equipment. Smoking is not allowed. Please do not lower your head to operate your mobile phone during the visit. Follow the guide along the prescribed route to avoid accidents.

4. At the production site, there are always special equipment and vehicles such as crane, forklift, electric carrier, freight transport vehicle, etc. Please be careful to avoid them.

5. There will be temporary material stackings at the production site. Please take care to keep away from the stacked materials during the visit so as to prevent the occurrence of tripping and bumping.

6. Please do not excessively approach and touch the operating equipment and facilities to prevent accidental injury.

If you need to observe the welding process, please use professional protective equipment to prevent your eyes from welding flash.

Please do not talk to the operator. If you have any questions, please consult the accompanying personnel.

7. For the sake of safety and technical protection, it is forbidden to take photos or shoot camera in the workshop. If necessary for special reasons, please go to the competent department for registration and record, and the shooting should be accompanied by a specially assigned person.
